The iPad was formally launched in the United States on April 3rd. And according to media reports, following the Apple sold over 300,000 iPad units the first day. Most European markets are still waiting for the release which is not expected until late April.

Industry analysis’s are speculating how the mobile phone operators overseas might position themselves for the big iPad launch. Here are some of the ideas on the table for the use of the iPad:

    * The iPad offers a version with extra charge on UMTS / HSDPA and GSM / EDGE as mobile networking technologies. The devices can thus be used for the mobile Internet, they can be used in Europe but only with what are referred to as “micro-SIM cards so as to operate efficiently. Such tools are smaller than the usually available SIM cards used in traditional mobile phones.
