You know all about the dangers of crash diets, and so do we, so we’ll spare you that. You know that if you lose weight by any fast, drastic measure, it’ll probably come back on in a few weeks, and you’ll be hungry, miserable and hormonal for most of the time. But you’ll fit into that bridesmaid’s dress, and that’s what’s important right now.
If you want to know what is the quickest way to lose weight, there are a few tricks you can try. We’re assuming your deadline for losing weight is between five days and two weeks – any less than that and you’ve run out of time, and if it’s any further away you should probably go for a healthier, longer-term option.
So, what is the quickest way to lose weight?
1) Kill the carbs. Cutting carbs out of your diet completely will have two effects. The first is that your body will shed most of the water it is retaining. This can cause you to lose up to 10 pounds in five days, but you will generally put it on in the next two weeks after that. Beware, because the second effect is that you will start to use muscle mass as fuel after your immediate fat reserves have been depleted. All healthy diets contain carbohydrates.
2) Make a plan. There are lots of losing weight diets & programs that are specifically geared to lose you a good 5-10lbs in the first week to ten days of a diet, in preparation for a holiday or special event. Most diets will show you a typical weight loss curve, which will allow you to see whether the diet is a crash diet, or one that promotes steady, long-term weight loss.
3) Go on a Detox. If you absolutely have to lose weight as fast as possible, the quickest way to do it is probably to go on a complete detox. Drink nothing but water and green tea, and eat nothing but low-fat vegetables with lean protein, and fruits that are low in calories. Don’t do this for more than a week unless advised to do so by your doctor.
These tips will help you get a lot closer to your overall weight loss goal.
